Graduate Portfolio Program in Energy Studies
Graduate Portfolio Program in Energy Studies (GPPES)
The Energy Institute is working with several other units on campus to establish a Graduate Portfolio Program in Energy Studies (GPPES). The program’s interdisciplinary approach is intended to give students a broad picture of the energy field that will equip them to deal with energy issues ranging from global policy to corporate strategy. GPPES will utilize already existing courses throughout The University of Texas at Austin, synthesizing course work with research and a weekly seminar that covers current issues in the energy field.
GPPES is a cooperative effort between the Energy Institute and seven schools or colleges: the Cockrell School of Engineering, the College of Natural Sciences, the Jackson School of Geosciences, the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, the McCombs School of Business, the School of Law and the School of Architecture. Other schools and colleges on the UT Austin campus also may elect to participate. Students from any department of UT Austin may register for the program, which, subject to the necessary approvals, will be offered for the first time in the Spring 2014 semester.
